There are multiple cairns along the route to help find your way but again, not really necessary. Between the 5,500-foot altitude, the rough roads, and the mosquitoes, the window of opportunity for visiting Summit Lake is small indeed (unless you consider some winter adventures!). I opted for the longer route, which follows paved FSR 21 most of the way and includes less time on awful FSR 6010.
